What a ride. This action packed believable "Psych-Thriller" took me for the ride I was expecting and then some. The plot moves quickly with main character Zeb Marlowe, the winner of a law suit resulting from a psych experiment he participated in as a poor undergraduate student in the '60s in need of a few extra bucks. Unfortunately for Marlowe, he continued to suffer from the residual effects of the evil Dr. Ressid's master plan, eventually adopted by CIA as an alternative means to carry out clandestine operations.The plot moves quickly but the jumping around between characters from various points of view, caused me to be a bit over taxed as a reader. With a little bit more from the author's writing craft, this story could easily topped my list of best 5 Stars read in 2014. However, the impression I came away with was that this one would be better as a screen play made into a movie for TV. I enjoyed the plot, the settings, and characters but tripped too many times over the issues with shifting point of view. Other than that...wow, a quick satisfying read that I recommend to anyone interested in a good action packed psych-thriller.

Awesome Read!
Kept me glued to the page until the fantastic ending. Never saw it coming & couldn't guess in a thousand years how Marlowe and Jai Jai would be able to escape from Ressid's creepy torture chamber. Also must mention the awesome case of characters. You won't forget them. And you're not going to forget Brainwashed, either.

i read this book recently and can only give it a lukewarm rating because already I can't remember much about it. So it was good enough for me to finish, but not very memorable. I will be honest and admit that I am a senior citizen and my memory isn't what it used to be. Having said that, however, when I read a Michael Connelly book, I remember it.
OMG!!! Wow!!! This was A-mazing!!!
I have done nothing but read since I started it Sunday afternoon!
And I mean it...yard didn't get mowed, the Darling Husband's laundry not done, had to eat out...and the nothing-done list goes on...LOL!

Interesting read, fast paced, exotic locales and an antagonist you will love to despise. Great for a rainy day or seaside.
This book is an annoying hodgepodge of superficial characters and ridiculous events so that there is absolutely no depth or flow to the story. I feel that it is the reader who has been brainwashed if he accepts this rubbish as a satisfying reading experience.
The way Brainwashed has been written, you'll feel as if you've been injected with the ultimate rush. This a fast read - no words spared - an intense story that commingles with fiction and reality. Many authors have written stories of CIA covert and espionage operations, but the authors have taken a different angle; a story inspired by dangerous experiments used on humans in a bid to create super soldiers. You can expect all the ingredients of a thriller and more. So, if you're looking for an intelligent thriller, grab this book!
Set in the 70’s, there is a definite undertone of camp that is completely appropriate for the era running through the novel. In the opening scenes in which Zeb and Jai Jai meet again there is a near sexploitation dance. Jai Jai is a woman using her wiles in a man’s world. There is a definite slant toward the female character in “Brainwashed.” Senator Chessie Tillmon is also a sassy and smart female who is determined and driven.
Chessie, Jai Jai and Zeb are certainly not the only characters. There’s a large cast of characters that can be at times awkward to keep straight. As a reader I focused on the plot lines as they came together and soon found that getting lost was simply no longer an option. While “Brainwashed” started slow, once the story got going it was one that simply was big moment to big moment and truly hard to put down. “Brainwashed” is a thriller in the strictest sense of the word.
It was fun to read a novel written by a married team. Michael and Ruth Harris have delivered a well-written and well-edited thriller masterpiece. It is not without its flaws but a savvy reader will find those flaws inconsequential and enjoy the wonderful and expertly constructed roller coaster ride that is “Brainwashed.”
